The Virginia Tech Police Department maintains a Live Scan system designed for inkless electroninc fingerprinting for processing through the National Crime Information Center and Virginia Criminal Information Network data bases.
Getting Fingerprinted
Fingerprinting services for pre-employment and security clearance investigations are offered free of charge to the general public. This service is available at our Sterrett Facilities Station every day of the week, during the following hours:
7:00am - 12:00pm
1:00pm - 7:00pm
Groups of three or more applicants are asked to schedule an appointment. For questions regarding fingerprinting services or to schedule a time for a group of applicants to be fingerprinted please contact our communications center at 540-231-6411.
What to Bring
To have your fingerprints taken you will need an Applicant Fingerprint Card, usually supplied by your prospective employer, but also available at our station, and one of the following forms of identification:
- DMV Drivers License
- DMV Identification Card
- US Military Identification
- US Passport
- Foreign Passport with US Visa
- Green Card
