Comments & Complaints
The Virginia Tech Police Department is committed to professionalism and takes pride in fostering relationships with all segments of the community. The integrity of the police department depends on the personal integrity of all employees individually and collectively.
The public is encouraged to bring forward positive comments or any concerns regarding misconduct by department employees. Comments or concerns can be made in person, via email to Captain Joseph Albert, or by contacting the Professional Standards Captain at (540) 231-1249. Complaints can also be made anonymously by calling (540) 232-TIPS. All complaints received will be fully investigated.
During calendar year 2008, the Virginia Tech Police Department investigated 6 internal affairs complaints and 9 personnel complaints. Of the 15 complaints, 8 were sustained, 6 were not sustained and 1 resulted in a policy review.
