Virginia Tech Police Department
Patrol Division
The Patrol Division is responsible for all police services twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. This division is led by the Patrol Captain Vince Houston, and then broken into four shifts to cover the around-the-clock operation.
This division responds to over 20,000 calls for service per year, writing over 1,000 incident based reports. The university currently has over 26,000 students and is constantly increasing enrollment and campus facilities. The department currently has fifty sworn officers, eight dispatchers, and numerous security guards and wage employees, all falling under the operation of the Patrol Division.
